Pedro Alvarez begins rehab stint; Other moves

- Pedro Alvarez has started his rehab assignment, which is excellent news. He started at 3B for the GCL Pirates today and will be re-assigned to the Bradenton Marauders to continue his rehab. Starling Marte selected to Futures Game

Altoona outfielder Starling Marte has been selected to play in this year’s MLB Futures Game played in Phoenix, AZ during All-Star week. Marte will play on the World Team. Bryan Morris moved to relief role

Bryan Morris, who entered this season as the Pirates’ #6 prospect according to Baseball America, has been moved into the Altoona Curve bullpen on a permanent basis. Aaron Baker, Marauders shine in FSL All-Star Game

The Florida State League All Star Game was played Saturday night between the North and South Divisions with the North winning 5-3. However, that didn’t stop the Marauders from having big days. 1B Aaron Baker was given the game’s Top Star Award as he went 1 for 2 with a 2-run homer and 2 walks
