4 prospects earn top status from MLB.com

Jonathan Mayo from MLB.com recently released his top 10 prospects lists for each position. 4 Pirates’ farmhands made the cut. When it came to naming the top 10 right handed pitchers, Mayo rated 2010 1st round pick Jameson Taillon #3 and 2011 1st rounder Gerrit Cole #6. Taillon is expected to start off the season

Gerrit Cole set to make AFL debut Friday

Gerrit Cole, who was taken as the 1st overall pick in the 2011 Draft will make his Arizona Fall League debut on Friday for the Mesa Solar Sox against the Surprise Saguaros, according the AFL’s daily notes. Cole made a few appearances in Instructional ball in Bradenton before heading out to Arizona earlier this week.

Robbie Grossman off to fast start in AFL

That’s what ESPN’s Keith Law said after Robbie Grossman homered today in the 2nd game of the Arizona Fall League season.
