Final: Pirates 9, Mariners 2 (box)

WP: Jeff Locke (7-1, 2.06 ERA)
LP: Joe Saunders (5-8, 4.98 ERA)

50x50_t470Jeff Locke was excellent once again as he gave up just two runs over seven innings. His 2.06 ERA is now tied with Clayton Kershaw for second best in the National League behind only Matt Harvey (2.05).

50x50_t470Starling Marte had himself a game. After leading off with his seventh triple, he added his seventh and eighth home runs in what was his first career multi-HR game.

50x50_t470Brandon Inge hit a three-run homer and Russell Martin and Gaby Sanchez each added solo home runs of their own. The five homers hit by Pittsburgh were the most in one game since July 22, 2009.

50x50_t470Pedro Alvarez saw his four game home run streak end, but was able to hit his ninth double of the year to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He has reached base safely in 15 straight.

50x50_t470Jeanmar Gomez starts tomorrow for the Pirates in his first start since June 2nd. He will face Felix Hernandez. Game time is 3:40 ET.
