Lots of stuff today.
– Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reports that the Pirates and Diamondbacks are still discussing a trade that would involve Justin Upton and that he remains at the top of the team’s wish list as far as hitters go.
– Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune says that the Pirates and Orioles are two teams that seem to be pushing the hardest for acquiring Headley.
– The Denver Post states today that the Tigers, Rangers, and Pirates have all expressed interest in Rockies’ second baseman Marco Scutaro. This is the first we have heard his name in any conversations thus far. Scutaro, who if acquired, would become the team’s short stop, is hitting .275/.329/.367 with four homers in 88 games for Colorado. Nothing all too crazy there, but better than Barmes.
– The Pirates have also inquired about Royals’ All-Star Billy Butler. ESPN’s Jayson Stark reports the Pirates have thrown out some pretty low offers just trying to get a feel for things and apparently the Royals would have to be “blown away” to accept a deal for Butler.
