7/5 MiLB Recap: Tim Alderson, Colton Cain, Joely Rodriguez put up zeros

Jose Tabata went 2 for 5, but was caught stealing. He stole just eight bases in 17 attempts in Pittsburgh.

Starling Marte was 1 for 4 with a walk and his 18th stolen base in 30 attempts. He is now hitting .289/.349/.494.

Tony Sanchez went 2 for 3 with his third home run in three games after not hitting a four-bagger all season long. He also drew a walk.

Tim Alderson pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He struck out six and walked four. In his nine starts for the Curve he has a 4.06 ERA with a 32:16 K:BB rate in 51 innings.

Victor Black pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his sixth save of the year for the Curve. He has a 1.25 ERA and a 46:17 K:BB ratio in 36 innings.

Colton Cain pitched seven scoreless innings. He walked three and struck out two. He’s given up just four runs in his last four starts, spanning 24 innings.

2011 3rd rounder, Alex Dickerson went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI. It was his 17th double of the year.

It wasn’t a good day for WV pitching prospects as Nick Kingham gave up six earned runs over five innings and Zachary Fuesser gave up two earned runs in three innings of relief.

Alen Hanson continues to tear up the Sally League. He was 4 for 5 with his 15th home run. He also stole his 22nd base in 37 attempts.

Joely Rodriguez pitched five scoreless innings giving up just one hit. He struck out one batter and didn’t walk anyone. He now has a 2.37 ERA with a 9:8 K:BB ratio over 19 innings this year.

This year’s 45th overall pick, Barrett Barnes¬†followed up yesterday’s 4 for 4 performance by going 2 for 4 with his 2nd double.

2nd round pick, Wyatt Mathisen was 1 for 3 with a double, his 2nd of the year. He is now hitting .351/.442/.405 in his first 11 professional games.
