Report: Pirates agree to terms with Jon Sandfort, Eric Wood, and D.J. Crumlich

Pirates Prospects is reporting that the Pirates have agreed to terms with three of their top 10 draft picks from this past week.

Third round pick, Jon Sandfort, apparently will head to Bradenton on Monday and sign his deal. Sandfort was rated as Baseball America’s #255 prospect heading into the draft out of Winter Springs HS in Florida. He has a commitment to Florida, but it looks like he was easily persuaded out of that.

Eric Wood, the Pirates’ sixth round pick is a third baseman out of Blinn College in Texas. Wood was thought of as a really “signable” pick who could free up money. Reportedly, he has signed for $100,000. Slot value for his pick was $188,800. So there’s $88,000 that can go towards other players.

D.J. Crumlich was the Pirates’ ninth round selection out of UC-Irvine. He graduates on June 15th and will then head to State College to join the Spikes.
