A lot of talk was going around about the Indianapolis Indians having four catchers on their roster after Tony Sanchez was promoted earlier this week. That situation seems to have been taken care of as the Bucs are shipping Kris Watts to Washington for cash.
Watts, 27, was the Pirates’ 16th round pick in 2006 and has been an organizational type player since then, putting up a .259/.357/.385 line over seven different seasons in the minors. After playing 103 games for Altoona in 2009, he has only played in 163 over the past three seasons.
This season, he appeared in just nine games for Indianapolis and hit .250/.357/.292 in 24 at-bats.
