Jeff Karstens is still about two weeks away as he continues his rehab from his shoulder injury from April. He suffered a bit of a set back on June 7th when he was pulled from what was pegged as his final rehab start with a hip flexor injury. In his four rehab starts so far, Karstens has a 3.78 ERA over 16 2/3 innings with 14 strikeouts and three walks.
Chris Leroux is due to be ready a bit sooner than Karstens as Hurdle says he could return before the end of the month. The roster decision about Leroux will be a combination of Leroux’s performance in his rehab outings, who has remaining options (which Leroux has none), and who is healthy. In six innings so far during Leroux’s rehab, he has a 3.00 ERA with five strikeouts and two walks.
