Pirates, Rod Barajas walk it off in the 9th

Final: Pirates 5, Nationals 4

WP: Tony Watson (2-0, 6.00 ERA)
LP: Henry Rodriguez (1-2, 2.84 ERA)

It looked like the Pirates had wasted a spectacular start from A.J. Burnett. Going into the 9th inning, the Bucs held a 3-2 lead over the Nats thanks to an eight inning, two run, ten strikeout performance from their starter. Joel Hanrahan, however, quickly relinquished that lead with his first blown save of the year when former Pirate Adam LaRoche hit a 2-run homer to put the Nationals ahead 4-3.

The Pirates had scored three unanswered runs after Washington jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to solo home runs by Andrew McCutchen and Garrett Jones. Neil Walker would then hit a sacrifice fly in the 8th to give the Pirates the lead.

In the bottom of the 9th, with Alex Presley on third base, Rod Barajas hit a laser beyond the fence in left field as he picked a very good time to hit his first home run of the season.
