Pirates’ minor league reliever Michael Crotta underwent surgery on his pitching elbow courtesy of Dr. James Andrews today. The surgery was to remove bone spurs in his elbow. Crotta detailed the day a lot through his Twitter account and even provided us with some pictures.
Crotta pitched in 15 games for Pittsburgh last season after making the club out of spring training and was expected to start the season in AAA-Indianapolis this year.
Crotta says that if rehab goes well, he could be back by August, just in time for the last month of the season, but that is a ways away, so we will have to see how everything goes.
