Kevin Correia serves as stopper in 4-1 win

Final: Pirates 4, Giants 1

WP: Kevin Correia (1-0, 1.50 ERA)
LP: Ryan Vogelsong (0-1, 2.84 ERA)
SV: Joel Hanrahan (1, 4.50 ERA)

After losing five straight games, it was Kevin Correia who was able to stop the bleeding as he gave up just 1 run over six innings this afternoon against the Giants.

The Pirates started the scoring in the 2nd inning with a solo homer by Garrett Jones. They added one more that inning with an RBI infield single by Alex Presley.

The Bucs would add two more in the ninth thanks to some good execution of the squeeze play coupled with poor defense by the Giants.

Joel Hanrahan came in and shut the door in the 9th inning for his first save of the season.

Andrew McCutchen ended the day 1 for 4 with a walk. But twice he drove the ball deep into the right center field gap. Unfortunately for McCutchen, AT&T Park is 421 feet long there. He would have had two homers today in practically any other ML ballpark.

The Pirates bullpen has a combined 1.78 ERA which is the best in the majors. Jared Hughes, Jason Grilli, and Joel Hanrahan combined for three scoreless innings tonight.

Michael McKenry had three walks today. Josh Harrison had three walks last year.
