Josh Bell pulled from West Virginia game with injury

Josh Bell update: after a 1B to center, he pulled up with an injury rounding first. No word yet on the injury or how serious.

Hopefully this is nothing serious, but according to Tim Williams, “Josh Bell left the game in the third inning after pulling up with an injury rounding first on a single to center field. He was tagged out between first and second.”

Josh Bell was the Pirates’ 2nd round pick in last season’s draft and is already considered the Pirates’ 2nd best hitting prospect behind Starling Marte. He is hitting .274/.288/.403 in his first 15 games of pro ball.

There is no word yet on the severity of the injury, but I will update this post when that information becomes available.

UPDATE – 11:45 PM:

Williams reports that Bell left after feeling “a tweak” in his left knee. He will be evaluated tomorrow by team doctors to determine the extent of the injury.

Williams tweets that Bell has been placed on the Minor League disabled list. No word on what exactly the injury was, but it will keep him out for some time.

Josh Bell has surgery on meniscus.
