A.J. Burnett struggles in 2nd rehab start

Published on April 11, 2012 by in Injuries

A.J. Burnett gave up eight runs (five earned) over 1 2/3 innings for the Bradenton Marauders tonight in his 2nd rehab start.

Burnett retired the side in order in the first inning with a ground out, strike out, and a ground out. But then this was his 2nd inning of work:

I guess if he’s going to have a start like this, it is good to get it out of the way when he isn’t in the Majors. You also have to keep in mind that this is his 2nd start, so it is like he is in the 2nd week of Spring Training. You never like seeing outings like this, but this isn’t the end of the world.
