A.J. Burnett impressive in rehab start

Published on April 6, 2012 by in Injuries

It was against high-A hitters, but nonetheless, A.J. Burnett had a nice step forward in his rehab process.

In 4 2/3 innings against St. Lucie, the Florida State League affiliate of the New York Mets, Burnett gave up 1 ER on 2 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 5.

You have to like what we saw out of Burnett today. As long as there are no further setbacks, Burnett could be ready for Major League action after a couple more rehab starts. I don’t see how he isn’t back by the end of the month.
