Pirates beat Yanks 7-4

Published on March 6, 2012 by in Game Recaps

Final: Pirates 7, Yankees 4

WP: Chris Resop (1-0, 4.50 ERA)
LP: Phil Hughes (0-1, 6.75 ERA)

This game wasn’t on tv and I wasn’t able to listen to it, but here are some highlights.

Kevin Correia started and didn’t give up a hit over 2 scoreless frames. He did walk 2 batters. Ryota Igarashi, Juan Cruz, Chris Leroux, and Tony Watson all pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Andrew McCutchen went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI. Nate McLouth, his replacement, went 1 for 1 with an RBI single.

Casey McGehee, Nick Evans, and Rod Barajas all went 0 for 3. Neither McGehee nor Pedro Alvarez have recorded a hit through 4 games. So third base is looking pretty good.

Starling Marte continues to tear it up as he went 2 for 2. Yamaico Navarro went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI as he is looking more and more like the back up middle infield choice. Clint Barmes also went 2 for 3.

“So third base is looking pretty good.”  That caused me to emit an audible chuckle, or LOL as the kids say.
