Morton spectacular in loss vs Detroit

Final: Tigers 7, Pirates 2

WP: Luis Marte (2-0, 0.00 ERA)
LP: Daniel McCutchen (0-1, 9.45 ERA)

Charlie Morton made his 3rd start of the Grapefruit League season and looked very impressive. In four innings, he gave up just two hits, struck out two batters, and didn’t give up a run. As of now, he isn’t slated to start any of the first four games of the season, but it looks like he is getting pretty close to being ready for the start of the season.

Matt Hague is doing his best to make fans angry with Neal Huntington if/when he gets sent to AAA. He went 1 for 3 with a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning, his team-leading 4th of the spring.

Jose Tabata went 3 for 4 out of the lead off spot. Andrew McCutchen was 1 for 3. Jake Fox, who is still competing for a bench spot went 1 for 1 and is now hitting .318/.348/.636 in 22 AB.

Joel Hanrahan gave up a run in his inning of work on a solo homer. Chris Leroux pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Things unravelled for Daniel McCutchen in the 9th inning, his 2nd inning of work, when he gave up 6 runs, including a grand slam.
