McCutchen homers in loss to Yankees

Final: Yankees 10, Pirates 3

WP: Mariano Rivera (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
LP: Erik Bedard (0-1, 6.23 ERA

Andrew McCutchen looks like he’s ready for the season. He went 2 for 3 with a 2-run shot [video] off Michael Pineda in the 1st inning. I am really excited about Cutch’s 2012 season and will have an article up tomorrow morning about just that.

Erik Bedard gave up 4 runs over 3 2/3 innings. He did not seem too worried about it as after the game he said he was more focused on just throwing all of his pitches and getting his pitch count up than anything else. He is a veteran, so I wouldn’t be too worried about him.

Daniel Moskos and Daniel McCutchen, who are both fighting for a bullpen spot, each pitched a scoreless inning. Each struck out 1 batter and did not allow a base runner.

Neil Walker and Jose Tabata each added a pair of hits. Tabata also stole a base.
