Casey McGehee’s big day not enough to beat Twins

Final: Twins 4, Pirates 2

WP: Jared Burton (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
LP: Jo-Jo Reyes (1-1, 7.71 ERA)
SV: P.J. Walters (1, 0.00 ERA)

Casey McGehee went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI [video of 2nd double]. McGehee was 1 for 8 going into today’s game, so this is a good thing to see.

Erik Bedard started and pitched 3 scoreless innings. He struck out 3 and gave up just 1 hit. Jason Grilli and Juan Cruz also each added a scoreless frame. Joel Hanrahan pitched a 1-2-3 4th inning and struck out 2 batters. He’s faced 6 batters this inning, hasn’t allowed any of them to reach base, and has punched out 4 of them.

Nate McLouth went 2 for 2 with a walk. He’s reached base in all 6 games played so far. Rod Barajas went 1 for 3 with his 2nd double of the spring. Also, if you weren’t aware, based on the video of McGehee’s double above, Barajas is pretty slow. And by pretty slow, I mean really super slow.

Both Bedard and Jo-Jo Reyes had an at bat today. Luckily, both pitchers managed to not get hit in the face with a ball. So, that’s good.
