It looks like we are now just waiting on this thing becoming official. If the Yankees are paying $20 million of Burnett’s remaining salary, this is a trade that will need to be ok’d by the MLB commissioner’s office.
Also, if the Pirates are taking on $13 million, one should not expect the two “prospects” that are going to New York to be all that interesting.
Dejan Kovacevic is also hearing the same thing based on his column today, which praises the Pirates for getting the deal done.
