Kristy Robinson hit us with some news this afternoon from her Twitter account that we weren’t aware of.
Charlie Morton underwent successful surgery on left hip to repair a torn labrum that began to bother Morton late in the 2011 season. Robinson goes on to add that the approximate recovery time for Morton is 6 months, which means he could very well miss the start of the 2012 season.
Morton had himself the kind of year a lot of fans had hoped he could put up as he went 10-10 with a 3.83 ERA in 171 2/3 innings. That was following a disastrous 2010 campaign where he posted a 7.57 ERA over 79 2/3 innings.
