Here’s my ballot for the BBA’s Stan Musial Award for the National League. The Stan Musial Award annually goes to the league’s best player.

1) Matt Kemp, OF, Dodgers – Kemp led the National League in WAR with an outstanding 8.7 and was .013 points away in batting average from winning the Triple Crown.

2) Ryan Braun, OF, Brewers – I hate him. But, man is he good. He finished 2nd among position players in WAR and finished with a pretty incredible slash line of .332/.397/.597.

3) Roy Halladay, P, Phillies – Doc actually had a higher WAR than Braun (8.2 to 7.8), but I gave the edge to Braun because he plays every day. Halladay’s the best pitcher in the league and deserves quite a bit of MVP recognition.

4) Joey Votto, 1B, Reds – The Reds were a bit of a disappointment, but Votto was not. He led the NL in OBP at .416.

5) Justin Upton, OF, Diamondbacks – Upton was a huge reason why the DBacks surprised a lot of people this year. His 6.4 WAR was 4th among NL position players

6) Clayton Kershaw, P, Dodgers – Kershaw’s 6.8 WAR was the 5th best in all of the National League and had a pretty impressive 21-5 season where he finished with a 2.28 ERA.

7) Jose Reyes, SS, Mets – Reyes ensured that he will collect a pretty big paycheck this off season when he becomes a FA by winning the NL batting title and posting a .337.384/.493 line while swiping 39 bases.

8. Andrew McCutchen, OF, Pirates – I’m probably stretching this a bit, but ‘Cutch was pretty impressive this year and was a huge reason the Bucs hung around for as long as they did. Cutch was a member of the 20-20 club with 23 homers and 23 stolen bases.

9) Cliff Lee, P, Phillies – Lee dominated this season for the Phillies going 17-8 with a 2.40 ERA and ranked 3rd among pitchers in WAR at 6.7.

10) Troy Tulowitzki, SS, Rockies – Tulo once again was one of the best shortstops in the Majors. His 6.3 WAR was tops at the position and 5th among NL position players.
