Brad Lincoln recalled; Tim Wood sent down

Published on July 2, 2011 by in Transactions

We already knew this, but the Pirates have made it official. RHP Brad Lincoln has been recalled from AAA-Indianapolis to start the 2nd game of the double header in Washington today. To make room for him on the roster, reliever Tim Wood has been optioned to AAA-Indianapolis.

Lincoln, who was the club’s 1st round pick in 2006 is 6-7 with a 4.14 ERA for Indianapolis and has pitched very well lately with a 2.84 ERA in his 4 June starts. Lincoln is expected to only be with the club for today’s 2nd game.

Wood has struggled since his call up and picked up the loss in last night’s game. In 8 innings, he went 0-3 with a 5.63 ERA. This probably isn’t the last we’ve seen of Wood, though.
