Pirates Prospects is reporting the Pirates have agreed to terms with 21st round draft pick Alex Fuselier.
Fuselier, 21, is a center fielder out of Louisiana-Lafayette and is expected to report to State College. He hit .308/.419/.467 his junior year with 4 homers and 14 stolen bases.
WTM from Pirates Prospects has this to say about Fuselier:
Fuselier’s numbers in college weren’t as impressive as what you typically see, but his school seems to have played in a slightly low-offense environment. He was the team’s second-best hitter in his junior year. He saw a spike in his power in 2011, mostly from extra base hits, which is notable considering the new bats. He also pitched some in college. He’s a good all around athlete, with a good arm, but will likely serve as an organizational guy in the Pirates system.
Fuselier is the 8th player from the 2011 Draft to sign with the Pirates.
