Rob Biertempfel of the Tribune-Review tweeted today after the game that the Pirates will not be making any roster moves going into this weekend’s series against Cleveland.
There was a ton of speculation and it seemed like a given that Alex Presley would be called up as the Pirates will be facing 3 right handed pitchers, all while having the benefit of the designated hitter.
I do not quite understand this decision, and I wrote a few days ago, that Presley deserves this shot. The Pirates essentially have an open spot on the 25-man roster in the form of Pedro Ciriaco, who is serving no purpose being on the team. When he gets his occasional pinch hit in a blow out or pinch running appearance in extra innings, it even keeps me from totally forgetting he is on the team.
Oh well. Looks like we will have to wait a bit longer to see what Presley has.
