Weekly Winter League Roundup

Since I have stopped doing the winter league tracker, I will have a weekly roundup of the action in the Arizona Fall League, Venezuelan Winter League, Dominican Winter League, and Mexican Winter League.

Who's Hot:

Jose Tabata - Arizona Fall League
Tabata is batting .328 in 14 games in the prospect-heavy Arizona Fall League. He has 1 homer, which was an opposite field shot and has an OPS of .865.

Robinzon Diaz - Dominican Winter League
Diaz is batting .343 in 9 games so far in the Dominican Winter League and is posting a solid .836 OPS.

Neil Walker - Venezuelan Winter League
Walker's BA is just .278, but he is drawing walks and getting on base better than he has in a long time with a .375 OBP.

Donnie Veal - Arizona Fall League
Veal is dominating the AFL. In 12.2 IP, he has stuck out 12 batters while walking 2. He has given up just 1 run for a 0.71 ERA.

Tony Watson - Arizona Fall League
Watson is looking impressive pitching in relief for Scottsdale. He hadn't pitched in about 5 months, so his 1.29 ERA is very nice to see.

Who's Not:

Chase d'Arnaud - Arizona Fall League
d'Arnaud is struggling a bit against the more advance competition in Arizona with a .681 OPS in 8 games.

Argenis Diaz - Venezuelan Winter League
Diaz got off to a promising start with the bat, but has since regressed to his usual hitless way. His .532 OPS is flat out awful.

Brian Friday - Arizona Fall League
Getting the pattern? Three straight shortstops on the "Who's Not" list = not good. Friday and his .509 OPS is the worst of the bunch.

Danny Moskos - Arizona Fall League
A 6.48 ERA thus far is not a good sign for Moskos. Neither are the 6 walks in 8.1 innings. However, the 9 K's are surprisingly pleasant.

Ronny Cedeno - Venezuelan Winter League
Cedeno just started his off season and hit a homer in his 1st game.

Gorkys Hernandez - Venezuelan Winter League
Hernandez isn't hitting (.255 AVG), but he's getting on base (.350 OBP). However, his SLG is below .300.

Starling Marte - Dominican Winter League
Marte isn't getting much playing time with just 9 AB, but he has 3 hits, all singles.

Diego Moreno - Venezuelan Winter League
Moreno has pitched in just 1 game, and gave up 2 ER in 0.2 innings.

Ronald Uviedo - Venezuelan Winter League
Uviedo is being used as a reliever in Venezuela and is off to a decent start giving up just 1 ER in 3.1 innings. He pitched today and struck out 3 batters in 1.1 innings.
