Bucs' Minor League Roundup 7/21


AAA-Indianapolis lost 6-3 to Charlotte. Ty Taubenheim (in picture) (4-9, 5.38 ERA) made his first start since coming off the DL. He went only 1.2 innings and gave up 3 ER. Romulo Sanchez (4-0, 2.64 ERA) pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

AA-Altoona won 3-2 over Akron. Josh Hill (4-11, 4.94 ERA) pitched 6 innings and gave up 1 ER. Brad Corley (.284, 10 HR, 39 RBI) went 2-4. 30-year old Jason Bowers (.259, 4 HR, 29 RBI) hit his 4th homer of the season.

High A-Lynchburg lost to Wilmington 8-6. 2007 1st rounder Danny Moskos (7-7, 6.28 ERA) continued to struggle as he gave up 5 ER and 12 hits in 5.1 innings. Kent Sakamoto (.259, 6 HR, 21 RBI) went 3-5 with a homer. Jim Negrych (.364, 5 HR, 38 RBI) was 2-4 with a RBI.

Low A-Hickory lost 8-5 to Delmarva. Brad Clapp (3-7, 3.32 ERA) got the loss as he gave up 3 ER in 4.2 innings. Erik Huber (.259, 8 HR, 57 RBI) was 1-3 with a 2 run homer.

Short Season A-State College lost 13-4 to Jamestown. 2007 14th round pick Kyle McPherson (1-2, 5.14 ERA) got the loss in a 3 inning, 7 ER performance. Calvin Anderson (.273, 4 HR, 19 RBI) was 3-4 with an RBI.

R-GCL Pirates won game 1 of a doubleheader 5-1 against the GCL Red Sox. Carlos Teller (1-0, 5.19 ERA) and Ricardo Paulino (0-2, 2.81 ERA) combined for 7 innings and 0 ER. Catcher Miguel Mendez (.447, 5 HR, 12 RBI) was 3-3 with a home run. Jarek Cunningham (.426, 4 HR, 11 RBI) was 2-3 with a homer and 3 RBI. They also won game 2, 9-1.
